Scott Hollingshead: Lead Pastor

In your own words describe what you do here at Harvest.

As the Lead Pastor, I wear several hats, but I have 3 primary roles. I focus on holding fast to the the vision and fulfilling the mission of our church, which is to glorify God by making disciples. We aren't a museum. We are a church on mission, boldly pursuing Christ's wonderful promise that He will build His Church. Additionally, I remain steadfastly committed to the unapologetic preaching of God's word. I'm passionate to say the least about the word of God and consume it, study it, and preach it to strengthen, encourage, and equip God's people and see lost people get saved. Finally, I'm committed to being a leader of leaders. The multiplication of leaders is essential in the pursuit of disciple making.

What experience, education, and/or work background do you bring with you to Harvest?

B.A. in Communications UCLA
M. Div Master's Seminary
Pastor/Elder at City Life Church in Burbank

What are you most passionate about when it comes to ministry?

Preaching, vision, and mobilizing leaders.

What could we find you doing on your days off?

Having 3 kids makes life quite crazy at home. It seems like there is always plenty to enjoy with my family and do around the house. We love going on walks, playing at parks, and doing anything that involves water. When I get to spend time with Erin, we typically arrange our fun around the food we are going to eat. We're best friends who love good food and good conversation.

What teachers/theologians have been influential in your life?

The truth is I have had so many teachers and theologians that have influenced my life that it would be tough to simply name them all here. I'm particularly grateful for those who have simply opened up the word of God and explained it with passion and applied it with conviction. My passion for preaching happened as I watched the effects that the word of God was having in my own life as it was preached with passion and clarity from the text. And I thought to myself, "If I can do that, to even a far less successful degree, I would be happy for the rest of my life."
